I Am SHE: Empowering Girls in Mamelodi, Pretoria, South Africa, stands as a dedicated non-profit organization that has been making a significant impact since its inception in 2018. Founded by three compassionate and dynamic sisters, I Am SHE is on an unwavering mission to empower young girls in marginalized communities, ensuring that they have the opportunity to attend school without hindrance during their menstrual cycles.

Established in 2018, this remarkable organization owes its existence to the vision and dedication of three extraordinary sisters who shared a common goal to uplift and support young girls in need.
Geographic Reach
I Am SHE transcends geographical boundaries. Its commitment to addressing the multifaceted challenges faced by disadvantaged girls extends to communities throughout South Africa, reflecting its unwavering dedication to making a difference wherever it is needed most.
Early Beginnings
In its nascent stages, I Am SHE operated with just three committed members who worked diligently from the comfort of their personal homes. This humble beginning serves as a testament to the remarkable journey and growth the organization has undergone.
Impact Areas
I Am SHE has, over the years, extended its reach and influence across various sectors, most notably in the realms of education, health, and girls' empowerment. Their impact isn't confined to a single domain, but rather spreads across these interconnected spheres, creating a holistic approach to making a difference.
Diverse Initiatives
The initiatives undertaken by I Am SHE encompass a wide spectrum of activities. These include the development of capacity-building programs, the provision of essential services, and the monthly distribution of menstrual hygiene products to over 650 girls. These efforts are all tailored to address the specific needs of the girls we serve.
Community Collaboration
I Am SHE recognizes the importance of community collaboration. By partnering with various local organizations and stakeholders, including previous partners like Naspers and Levi’s, we provide essential support and assistance to those in need. This collaborative approach reflects their tireless commitment to creating a brighter future for girls facing unique educational obstacles. Additionally, we host over 50 volunteers annually and maintain active partnerships with more than 15 organizations each month.
Legal Status
I Am SHE proudly carries official registration as a non-profit organization (NPO), a non-profit company (NPC) , and a public benefit organization (PBO). This legal recognition underscores their dedication and accountability in their mission to make a positive difference in the lives of young girls across South Africa.

The Vision of the organisation is to have people live comfortably in a patriarchy-free world.
To implement this vision, I Am SHE organisanises school and organisational visits and promote where guest and the guest speakers are women who advocate for equality.
We also fight for equality by investing in the education of young girls by ending period poverty. We equip girls with menstrual education and sanitary products.
The Mission of our organisation is to create a world where being a woman is not an obstacle to create change.
We do this by:
Compassion: We work with girls from different backgrounds and meet them where they are at. We act with empathy and sensitivity.
Ubuntu: We believe in the spirit of ubuntu. We are because you are (Umuntu ngu muntu ngabantu)
Integrity: We work with complete fairness, transparency and accountability.
Collaboration: We believe in team work, therefore we promote collaboration within our organisation and within the community.
